And his cousin ain't bad either. The Huskies had their first practice. ( We'll be busy with sports now until the 4th of july except for a week or two.) The team looks pretty darn good especially with the uber talented troika of Joe, Fernando, and Roberto. You should see Fernando. Darn nice kid. Quiet, about a half a head shorter than Joe and just as thin. I think his most noteworthy talent would be that he has an ATOMIC CANNON FOR A LEG. Even Joe, goalie par excellance said, and this is an exact quote: "Holy insert word here that guy can blast it."

I can't decide whether his nickname should be T. O. for time out which is what the other team will be screaming when he winds up; or Daffy because every one will duck when he shoots or maybe just fuego which is Spanish for fire.

After 1 practice the whole team is confidant. With Joe in the nets and patrolling midfield we are looking at a darn good year, or 6 weeks whichever comes first.

We also picked up a Hot wheels Radar Gun." HEY VA it rocks and it's only $30 at Target. Also check those soccer gloves we gave you. If the palm seems dry put a damp face cloth between them And you have to clean the dirt off if they get dirty.

We also got a Swing Away baseball hitting devise on clearance. Joe was finally some help in washing the car. I wonder if buying the power spray had anything to do about it.

JEREMY- did you get this?? Got your address from Smokey. Fatherhood rocks.

Luckily we don't have any homework for this weekend. Joe got it done last week. That does it from hot and humid INDIANAPOLIS.

Milkweeds & Monarchs

Dad told me that monarchs lay their eggs on milkweed plants, so you can imagine my joy when a milkweed sprung up in the flower bed! Every summer since 1993 we have cared for the darn milkweeds & even though I have never seen anything looks remotely like an egg on the leaves of the milkweeds, we always have monarchs in the forest formerly known as the front flower bed. (D Lee, not all city people are crazy weed gardeners.)

The Party in a Van arrived & we had a party! Thank you everyone for a very Happy Birthday! Thanks a bunch for the gifts! You all are too generous. Poor Mip & Chris had to work right thru the party, but they were probably wayyy cooler than we were in their air conditioned workplaces w/o candles. It is hot, hot, hot here today! Look how TAN everyone is!

The Virginia Gelozins are back in Old Dominion after a full and energy filled stay here.

We may not agree about everything but every blessed person in the troop (10 of us) whole heartedly agree that South Bend and Notre Dame ROCK. In fact, the vast majority of guest were more than ready to become full time Hoosiers. Is there anything better than that? The dorm, food, campus, hockey were given enthusiastic thumbs up. In fact Joe was fired up enough to sign up for a 4 day, 2 weekend Pre Season Hockey tune up camp here at Pan Am. He's even considering a 4 day baseball camp at ND some summer. Nix the dorm.

The Cul De Sac hockey tournament went well except for the 2 VA studs being unable to score on me. Hey, just because you can't score on a 56 yr old amputee doesn't mean you can't be a good hockey player, After all, I'm a Gelozin. I made first team All Cul de Sac with Uncle Tom and Joe. Second team All Cul de Sac was Geoffrey, Andrew, Gabby and Matthew. Well done the trophies are being sent.

I'm not saying they were active but the VA's went to South Bend, Chicago, the Indy Children's Museum, White River State Park, a baseball game, played video games, drove go karts and golfed at Great Times and of course played a lot of Street Hockey. Whew! I'm tired just typing it let alone doing it.

I'm off Monday, so we'll attempt to play the back 9, which includes 2 250+ yard holes, as we work our way up to a real course.

Going to start getting it together for our pilgrimage to CONN in 2 weeks. I'll go into the activities next week. I'm hungry. See you and have a great weekend.

It wasn't easy but the Va division of Gelozin, Inc is safely in the hotel----in Bloomington. Son of a gun they were told to take a back road and got here later than expected. Rest up. We'll be seeing them Sat am. YEAH!!

If that's not enough Aunt Anne and Dana are in Conn visiting as well. YEAH!! And if THAT"S not enough we will be making our reservations for our trip to the homeland in late July YEAH!!!!

Baseball is over for Joe. The Golden Huskies going 1-2 for the tourney, Joe pitched 4 inn and had 9 strikeouts with various and sundry offensive results as well. He oohed them with a few nifty pick-ups at third. Not much "O" but he did drive in a few with the teams’ only successful bunt.

I could get used to these 4, and 3 day weeks. Went golfing on a short par 3 and Joe beat me straight up by a stroke. He also placed a bruise on the top of my right great toe when he lashed a drive with his 7 iron than almost took my foot off. LOFT THE BALL JOE. I'm OK though; don't worry about me.

GAVIN--- check your calendar. Friday Sept 1 UCONN at IU soccer. Joe and I are going. You in? Game is at 730 we will leave when you can because ND is playing someone at 5.

Lil’ Nicky is free!

A member of our family returned to the wild today. Lil’ Nicky, who isn’t so little anymore, longed to be free. Although we will miss her and her late night croaks we are happy that her dream came true. She now resides in a lovely creek deep in the dense woods - courtesy of her Uncle Jay & Cousin Volitta.
