Sometimes You Just Have to Know

I had to know how many dishcloths one cone of Lion Brand kitchen cotton yields, so I crocheted some & found it is 10, which is by no means scientific or a standard measurement, quelle surprise.
Some are great, like the Blossom Stitch & Sweet Violet pattern by Toni.
Some are just awful, like this one, which is made from a stitch pattern in Encyclopedia of Crochet:
In fact, the Sweet Violet pattern is so lovely I used it to make a chair mat for one of our porch rockers:
Then I used the diagonal corner start box stitch to make another:
Now that the cool & windy storms have returned I realize these need to be thicker, lest they will continue to blow all over the porch. Maybe I will make two identical mats and sc the pairs together.
Crochet is so quick, so soothing & carefree! I also made this Market Bag over the weekend:
Then I forgot to take it with me when I went grocery shopping. Arg! Made to the pattern it is very large. So large, in fact, that I am sure I could not carry it if it were filled with heavy (liquid or frozen) items. I think it would accommodate 4 gallons of milk! How lucky for me that I possess the requisite skills to completely shrink things I launder!
At the grocery I picked up some new Puffed Club Crackers, which Pookie Poo will not try. Why you may ask? Apparently, there is a perfectly logical reason: the box is green & green boxes mean the contents are disgusting. (Listen up, marketing people! Help a Mama out ‘n put the healthy stuff in brightly colored wrappers, will ya?) It is sort of hilarious b/c He thought the same thing when we initially saw the box in the store! I tried to tell Pook these puffed Club Crackers are in no way low fat or healthy & I invited him to read all of the box. I even compared them nutritionally to nacho chips & they have more sugar than nacho chips! But, alas, that darn green box really means everything to him. (Maybe his drinking 50% Dean’s chocolate milk & 50% chocolate Silk for some time prior to me telling him he really does like soy milk has made him wary?)
Back to yarn…to test the pattern for a possible gift set I made this flower coaster:
My thought is to make several in bright colors to brighten my Mom’s porch.
OMGosh, Paxahou in Detroit on iTunes is driving me mad: I can’t stop listening & it will not stop rebuffering! I have got to find something else!

It is great to see someone else using my pattern! Yours looks great. I would love to see some of the others as you finish them!
